BLUE SKY“The king then asked me, “So what do you want?” Praying under my breath to the God-of-Heaven, 5 I said, “If it please the king, and if the king thinks well of me, send me to Judah, to the city where my family is buried, so that I can rebuild it.” 6 The king, with the queen sitting alongside him, said, “How long will your work take and when would you expect to return?” I gave him a time, and the king gave his approval to send me.” (Nehemiah 2:4-6, The Message)

Nehemiah has always been one of my favorite books of the Bible. I’ve always found Nehemiah to be an example of determination. As I started to read through it again I didn’t get very far before the Lord spoke to me. I’ve been writing a lot about shifting, transition, and preparation. Last week I wrote about instructions that will open locked gates.

When I read verse 4 I felt as if God was asking the same to you and me, “So what do you want?” As you prepare for your next step I believe you need to be, and God is wanting you to be, very specific. He already knows your next step but He wants to know your heart. Nehemiah had a specific request for his next step, he had a specific assignment in mind.

I believe this is now the time when what you request is being approved. As you begin to lay the plan out in front of you and you begin to make your requests known to God you are going to find these requests being approved and it is the approval of these requests that will lead you into the next step, the next phase, and the next season of your life.

Just as Nehemiah received approval from the king, you are going to find approval from The King for your next move. Begin to write it out now and be very specific, don’t hold back, God is wanting you to bring your requests to Him and as you do you will find approval.
