WHEN THERE SEEMS NO REASON FOR HOPE, KEEP HOPING

Categories: Inspiration

“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” 19 And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb. 20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.” (Romans 4:18-21, NLT)

Have you ever found yourself in a season where it seemed like there was no reason to hope any longer? All the odds were against you? It seemed impossible that you would experience breakthrough? We’ve probably all experienced this at some point in our lives, you may be there right now. I want to encourage you today to keep hoping.

Abraham had a great promise from God. Looking in the natural it would have been easy for him to give up hope. All the odds were against him, it seemed impossible. The Scriptures tell us, however, that Abraham’s faith did not weaken. He never wavered in believing God’s promise. The passage above tells us that his faith grew stronger. I like how verse 20 and 21 reads in The Message version: “He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, 21 sure that God would make good on what he had said.”

You may be reading this and thinking, “This is great but it’s easier to say it than do it.” Or, “You don’t know the strength of what I’m dealing with.” I’ve been in this position before, I know that it’s much easier to tell someone to not give up hope than it is for yourself to keep hoping. I’ve been in a place where others may not have understood what I was dealing with. My situation may be different than yours, your struggle may be greater than mine but I can tell you that a struggle, is a struggle, no matter how small or great it may seem to someone else, when you’re in the middle of it, there seems like there is no way out. It’s easy for hopelessness to settle in. I want you to understand I’m not just writing based on how I think you should respond to a lack of hope, I’m writing out of experience.

“Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.” You must push forward, it’s vital, even when there seems no reason to hope, keep hoping! God never wavers in His promise, we tend to waver in our belief. Do not waver, do not give up, be fully convinced that God is able to do whatever He promises!
