TICK…TOCK, TIME IS WASTING

“Wake up from your sleep, Climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light!” (Ephesians 5:14, The Message)

I’ve included a song with my post today. This may not be your style of Christian music but don’t be too focused on whether or not you like this style of music, focus on the words to this song. I’ve included the lyrics below.

As I see the things going on in the world around us, in my state of Maine, our counties, and our communities I’m moved with a passion to do something. We can put our hope in the next election but that’s not what is going to change this world. What’s going to change this world is when The Church arises and takes on the challenge of reaching this world. You may take offense to this, that is not my intention, my intention is to have you actually remember Jesus’s ministry, I’m including myself in this category, many of us are so spiritually fat from sitting and feeding that we need to get up and burn some spiritual calories. It’s time to put into action what we have been learning. The world will not be reached by us sitting and waiting for them to come to us. My wife keeps reminding me that, “Jesus never sat in a church and waited for people to come to him, he never said, “Come to church and I will heal you or I will pray for you, He went out into the trenches and marketplace,” she is right, we must get up and go get them. It’s our job, it’s our commission as Christians. If we are true Christians, we will do what we see the father do.

The part of the song that struck me the most was this: “Tick tock, times are changing, We’re wasting breath debating, This life is fleeting, fading, Somebody wake up there’s a world that’s waiting.” I see more debates on social media between Christians than anything tearing each other down, for the sake of what? . How about we put our differences in doctrine aside, come together on what we can agree on, and reach our communities. I’m tired of seeing one addict after another ending up in a casket. If we don’t do something, who will?

Church, wake up from your sleep, climb out of your coffins! Wake up, there’s a world that’s waiting!
Lyrics: Holy Ghost by Jake Hamilton and The Sound
I got drunk on love and forgot my shame
Hiding in the shadows of a greater name
Lost in the longing just to see a brighter day
Dead on arrival, I was born to fail
So I got reborn and broke out of jail
Now every day I just live to tell the tale

Holy Ghost, burn it down
Fill the streets as we pave this town
Holy Ghost, baptize me

Light me up then set me free
Fear is a lie, death is dead
My last adversary’s in my head
I’m tryna get a grip while I learn to let it go
Holiness won’t happen overnight
Flesh and blood is not what we fight
We need a baptism, not a show

Holy Ghost, burn it down
Fill the streets as we pave this town

Tick tock, times are changing
We’re wasting breath debating
This life is fleeting, fading
Somebody wake up there’s a world that’s waiting
