STRENGTH TO ENDURE

DSCN5192 “We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy…” (Colossians 1:11, NLT)

“We are praying, too, that you will be filled with his mighty, glorious strength so that you can keep going no matter what happens-always full of the joy of the Lord…” (Colossians 1:11, TLB)

Have you ever had those times in your life when you’ve needed to endure and be patient? That seems like a question that answers itself because everyone in life goes through these times at some point, but have you had those times when you don’t feel like you have the endurance and patience you need to get through this time in your life and you’re not sure where to get that from?

This passage tells me that the endurance and patience we need comes from by strengthened with His power. In today’s world of empowering people to run on their own strength, this is becoming harder and harder to teach people to do. Much of society teaches that if you have to rely on someone else or a higher power, than you are weak. The fact is that without God, whether you realize or not, we are all weak, we are all nothing, and we are not successful. In order to keep going no matter what happens, your strength will not be enough. It might work for a time but you will come to a point in your life when you can’t do it on your own. It’s at that time that you need to be strengthened with all His glorious power, why? So you will have all the endurance and patience you need.

This passage tells me that I need to be strengthened with His power so that I can have the endurance and patience I need to keep going no matter what. If you’re at the point that you don’t know how you’re going to get through this time of your life, your solution is in the scripture above. It’s time to surrender your own will and strength and pray to be strengthened by the power of God. It is then that you will be given the endurance and patience you need. It doesn’t mean your process is going to be easy, but it means you will get through because of the power of God.

Go ahead, throw in the towel to doing it on your own and allow God to strengthen you and you will keep going no matter what.
