LOOK UP, AND BE ALERT

Categories: Inspiration

“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” (Colossians 3:1-2, NLT)

“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. 2 Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ — that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” (Colossians 3:1-2, The Message)

This passage is key to our lives today. God is calling us to a place of being alert to what is going on. If we are serious about living this life with Christ, then there’s more to it than what we see directly in front of us. Situations and circumstances in our lives, though very real, can serve as distractions to the bigger picture. God does not want us focused and absorbed with the things right in front of us. “Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ – that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.”

God’s ways are higher than ours and we must look at life around us through His eyes. We have to pick our feet up, lift up our eyes, and look beyond our circumstances. We must see the big picture, that’s where the action is.

If you’re serious about this, if you want to be effective in this earth, look up, and be alert!
