This is the third step I want to share with you from my sermon on “How to Cross Over.”  Step one was, have a vision, step two was, follow someone who has a vision, now this step is you must have some fight in you.

Part of the fight that you must have in you is fighting the thoughts the enemy likes to plant in your mind concerning your purpose and destiny.  How do you fight that?  You fight that with faith.  Faith is what kills the enemies plans.  One of the biggest hindrances to us walking in our purpose is unbelief.  We can’t get so wrapped up in unbelief that it takes all of our energy using faith to battle unbelief.  God doesn’t want us doing that.  He wants us to use faith for our purpose and destiny, not just to battle unbelief.

Kristen and I are no longer in the desert season of our lives, but we had to fight to get out of it.  What did we do to fight to get out of the desert?  We have a vision and we followed those who have a vision.  I want to share with you some facts about some familiar names.  There are many examples in the Bible but I want to share some examples with you familiar to our lives today.

·         Bill Gates first business failed.

·         Albert Einstein didn’t speak until he was four years old.

·         Jim Carrey used to be homeless

·         Benjamin Franklin dropped out of school at age ten

·         Stephen King’s first novel was rejected 30 times

·         Oprah Winfrey gave birth at age 14 and lost her child

·         Thomas Edison failed 1000 times before creating the lightbulb

·         Franklin Roosevelt became partially paralyzed at age 39.

Whether or not any of these are Christian is not the point, the point is that they had to overcome some obstacles and I can guarantee you if you talked with any of them you would find that they had a vision, they followed someone who had a vision, and they had some fight in them.

Do you have any fight in you?  Even just a tiny bit?  You may have to dig down deep but I can tell you that if you are alive and breathing and reading this today, you have some fight in you.  Begin to focus on a vision for your future, follow someone who has a vision, and begin to stir the fight up within you again.

It’s time for you to cross over, enough of wandering in the desert.  Begin to approach the bank of the river and step in, it’s time to cross over!
