FOLLOW JOSHUA, AS YOU FOLLOWED MOSES

“They answered Joshua, “We will do whatever you command us, and we will go wherever you send us. 17 We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses. And may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses.” (Joshua 1:16-17, NLT)

A few weeks ago, I compared Moses and Joshua to the old and the new. Moses representing your past, Joshua representing your future. If you want to go back and read that the title was “Your Time Has Come.” You can read it on my Facebook page or  website.

As I’ve been studying Joshua, I’m having a hard time getting beyond chapter 1. There are so many keys we can apply to our lives today. We will all face times of transition in our lives. No matter how much we try to avoid it or prevent transition and change from happening, we can’t. Change will happen in our lives and will you choose to transition through in cooperation with what the Lord wants to do in your life?

With the passage above, keeping in mind the comparison between Moses and Joshua, to transition as smoothly as possible, we must have the attitude in this Scripture. “They answered Joshua, “We will do whatever you command us, and we will go wherever you send us. We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses. And may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses.” Will you look at the new that God wants to do in and around your life and say, “I will do whatever you ask me to do Lord. Just as I obeyed you in the old, I will obey you in the new you have for me.” The Lord will be with you in the new just as He was in the old.

Transition and change brings many challenges, and it can be difficult at times. The key to being successful through it is following Joshua (the new), just like you followed Moses (the old). Purpose in your heart and in your mind to move forward no matter what and always know that God is right there beside you.
