Step_by_step_Blaustich_beschnibbelt“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. 24 Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” (Psalms 37:23-24, NLT)

“Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.” (Joshua 1:9, The Message)

Every step you take, God is right there beside you encouraging you and routing for you. It can be hard, as I’ve talked about the past couple of posts, to step out into the unknown. You have to know and be confident in the fact that the Lord directs your steps. There isn’t a detail of your life that He doesn’t delight in.

The first passage that I used in Psalms I’ve used before. What I’ve always seen when I read verse 24 is a picture of a father in the natural holding a child up by their hand when they stumble. When your kids are young and not real stable on their feet sometimes they stumble when they are walking, but what do you do? You pull them up by their hand so that they don’t fall. God does the same with us, He’s got us by the hand and as we walk on this journey we will have times of stumbling but God will hold you up so that you won’t fall.

I think sometimes when we lose strength and courage and become discouraged is when the details of life don’t always come together the way we would like or the way that appears favorable at the moment. God is saying, be strong, be courageous, don’t get discouraged even when things don’t turn out the way you had hoped. If your heart is right and your desire is to do His will He will direct your steps and will be with you every step you take.

Sometimes He may direct us in a way that seems off course but He’s really walking us around distractions and problems that we can’t see. Like a father in the natural desires to direct his children around problems without them even knowing it, our Heavenly Father does the same. He sees things in our path that could misguide us so He guides us around them.

It may take years for you to know why God directed down a certain path, or you may never know exactly why, but what you do need to know and remain confident in is the fact that He’s right beside you, He’s got you by the hand and every step you take, He’s taking a step with you.

Be encouraged today, your steps are ordered by the Lord and He will lead you into abundance and fruitfulness.
