HARBORED 20 (1)“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper and let down your nets and you will catch a lot of fish!” 5 “Sir,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, we’ll try again.” 6 And this time their nets were so full that they began to tear! 7 A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.” (Luke 5:4-7, TLB)

I believe this is a time when the Lord is calling us deeper. He is calling you deep into a place where it will take complete faith and trust in Him. Maybe you’ve been in a time of unfruitfulness. You’ve been working, you’ve been doing everything you are supposed to do but you aren’t seeing any results. God is saying, go out where it is deeper and let down your nets. That may not make sense to you because it seems no different out there than where you are right now.

In this passage, on Jesus’ request, Simon put out his nets and caught a large amount of fish. Though Simon, an experienced fisherman, was sure he would not catch anything at that time of the day when the fish were deeper in the lake, he obeyed Jesus’ word. This showed a significant amount of faith. The resulting catch began to break the nets, so they filled Simon’s and another boat with the fish till both boats began to sink.

I have found that many times what God instructs us to do may not make sense to the natural eye, why, because He wants us in a place that requires us to act in faith not our own personal strength. Deeper waters require more faith because it removes a level of safety and pulls you out of your comfort zone.

God is calling you to a deeper place, and it’s not all going to make sense to your natural eye but you have to trust Him and go deeper. If you will, your nets will be so full that they will begin to tear. Stepping out in faith to a place God is calling you to will result in great fruitfulness in your life.

Go ahead, go out where it is deeper and let down your nets.
